Reflections on Podcasting
Thinking too Much
Last week was a crazy week - I was extremely behind in our Web 2.0 class, dragging my feet about what kind of my new computer I wanted and I was helping my parents out, since my Mom had knee replacement surgery a couple of weeks ago. I was trying to give them both a break....if you know what I mean.
I knew I needed to get a microphone for the podcast and I had not done that either, then I saw Will's screencast and listened to Michelle's podcast and WoW! I knew I was in a class with a bunch of "overachievers" and I had done diddley with my podcast! Time was running out on me and I have to do something.....but what?
I had googled several ways to use video in your podcast and watched others in our class and I couldn't come up with one thing. What could I make a podcast on? Hmmmm? I was thinking I could video a how to "make a card"podcast, but I would need someone to hold my camera then here comes the Fourth of July holiday and I read Robin's message: whew no new lesson, I was so relieved - this meant, I could think for a couple of more days, wonderful.
So, it's now Monday, I still had no idea what I was going to do and I started reading all of the great comments on my Tiffy video and wow my spirits have soared through the roof! I feel like Sally Field accepting her Oscar! I am so glad to read all of your nice comments. I have to admit, I didn't know I could use that for my podcast! I just put it on my blog, because my basset hound makes me laugh! You all have made my day! Thanks!
If you have stuck with me this far - here is all I did. I used a digital camera, followed Tiff around in the backyard for a while. I then used Movie Maker to edit the clips, added the song and the title/credits all with Movie Maker and then....the tricky part is that I had to change the ending or the format of the video so that it would upload to my blogger account. Not bad really. I googled how to change your format and found a great explanation on a website. I had it done in two hours! Now, how could I use this in my classes.....that I might need to think about a little more.

Angie,
I love your dogs and your video. I was afraid of doing audio and video and so took the easy way out and just did the audio. Thanks for the hints on how you set yours up. I always hate the "what am I going to do thought?". Makes me a little more empathetic to my students when I assign them science fair projects.
