I can't believe I have made it through two weeks of being an Elementary Art Teacher! Unless something drastically changes, I like it! I have a great schedule, small classes, cute kids and really nice people to work with.
It is an adjustment working with younger students and I am getting into the groove of saying..."I like the way ___ is sitting in her chair." or "Are you making a good choice?" But my favorite thing that happened the other day was a Kindergarten class came in and we are working on lines. Thick lines, thin lines, different kind of lines with different colors. We are using the Promethean Board to practice drawing first, then they get paper and colors. I just passed out all of the colors and look over and one boy has two crayons sticking out of his ears. He is turning his head from side to side looking at the other students at his table. I just shook my head no and he pulled them out and put them back in the box! I guess that worked that time.
