Over Spring Break I had, well an interesting thing happen. I was having a tree cut over my deck roof and one of the tree workers climbed on the roof to get to the tree. You know where this is going right? Yes, he stepped in the middle of the rafters and fell in! Well, it was really his foot that fell in but still. He had a chain saw in his hand and didn't even hurt himself! Whew! That's a relief. Here is a picture of the roof or of my skylight in my roof. It's a bit hard to see but the brown stuff around the hole, is the rotted wood, the white stuff is 4 inch thick styrofoam stuffed inbetween the rafters, that was used as insulation. Not my idea, it came with the house.
I am happy to report that I have a new roof, my next door neighbor/handyman, came over today and put up a new rolled roof for me. I paid him, of course but probably not what he would have charged someone else. My dad and I spent two days installing the plywood sheeting and my neighbor spent all day today, putting on the asphalt paper, the roof cement and the roll roofing. I can do a lot of things but I know when to say when!
I am so glad to have my covered deck back! It was quite an experience to live for a week without that roof. My house was so bright, I could see every dog hair and speck of dirt laying on the floor or on the kitchen cabinets. Ahhhhh, I am so glad to have my house dark and clean again!
Enjoy!
